BON SECOURS HOSPITAL GALWAY EXCELS AT THE CAP AWARDS FOR ITS CLEANING AND CATERING SERVICES

Housekeeping and catering staff at the Bon Secours Hospital Galway have been celebrating after winning two major national awards for their cleaning and cooking.

On the housekeeping front the CAP Award inspectors were impressed by the dedication of the cleaning team and their focus on the patient environmental.

Ian Jackson, Managing Director of the CAP Awards said: “We were hugely impressed by the commitment and pride generated by the cleaning staff in their performance. Their passion shone through in the discussion with the various team members

The CAP Awards (the Continuous Advancement Programme) measure the quality of cleaning and housekeeping in healthcare facilities across Ireland and the UK and are regarded by patients and their families as a mark of high quality.

The catering service also received praise from the CAP Award Programme for the quality of its food service. The soup of the day and the vegetarian tart were noted as two beautifully prepared and tasting dishes.

Gerry Burke, Hospital CEO at the Hospital said he was extremely proud of the two teams and delighted that the housekeeping and catering staff had won the award adding it is important that the dedication of both teams is recognised.

The hospital plans to continue working with the CAP Awards in the year ahead to maintain, and where possible improve, the quality of the housekeeping and catering departments.

CAP Award inspectors are industry leading experts who support hospitals and other healthcare facilities throughout the year to be the best they can be for their patients and staff.
